Summary Job Description Tasks
General characteristics. At this level, the accountant makes practical application of technical accounting practicesand concepts beyond the mere application of detailed rules andinstructions. Initial assignments are designed to expand practicalexperience and to develop professional judgment in the applicationof basic accounting techniques to simple problems. Is expectedto be competent in the application of standard procedures andrequirements to routine transactions, to raise questions aboutunusual or ques tionable items, and to suggest solutions. Performs a varietyof accounting tasks, prepares routine working papers, schedules,exhibits, and summaries indicating the extent of the examinationand presenting and supporting findings and recommendations. Examines a variety of accounting documents to verify accuracy of computationsand to ascertain that all transactions are properly supported,are in accordance with pertinent policies and procedures, andare classified and recorded according to a At this level, the Accountant II makes practical application of technical accounting practices and concepts beyond the mere application of detailed rules and instructions.
