Applies accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices to the solution of problemsfor which no clear precedent exists or performs work which isof greater than average responsibility due to the nature or magnitudeof the assigned work. Responsibilities at this level, in contrastto accountants at level 4, extend beyond accounting system maintenanceto the solution of more complex technical and managerial problems.Work of accountants 5 is more directly concerned with what the
accounting system (or segment) should be, what operating policiesand procedures should be established or revised, and what is themanagerial as well as the accounting meaning of the data includedin the reports and statements for which they are responsible.
